No CommentsState utilities are shying away from signing PPAs (power purchase agreements) and are imposing various charges on green power producers, hampering the growth of green power share. The utilities reject the accusation. Amidst rising pollution levels in India’s cities, a shift toward cleaner sources, but unfortunately a large number of states aren’t buying green energy.

The solar power industry saw rapid decline in the tariff, in close to two years. Foreign players, and domestic players won several projects, through competitive bidding with tariff as close to INR5.00 a unit. Though the companies are confident of sustaining this tariff, one of the primary requirements is access to capital, at lower cost.
